About me

Foto de Gabriel Cuétara

In my current proposal I deepen the thematic development of the Machines series, presented for my graduation thesis at the Academy, where graphic language is the central axis of my aesthetic discourse, making use of it of techniques such as drawing, engraving and painting. My conceptual objective is to continue investigating the actions of contemporary man on society and the environment by creating the character TVman as the protagonist and alter ego of my work.

From a critical and ironic perspective, I approach themes where the borders of the social and the fantastic intersect. I am attracted to tell stories with an eclectic atmosphere and for that I get feedback from forms and artistic universes as dissimilar as the cartoons and cartoons of the Cuban Juan Padrón, the works of the American illustrator Frank Frazzeta, the European folklore recreated in the popular tales of the brothers Grimm, the ways of telling stories in the ancient cultures of the Nordic, Celtic, Asian and American aboriginal people until the visuality of video games, in its concept phase, where environments and characters are recreated as a kind of static illustrations.
